Melantopia´s first album release, Norwegian Summers, was inspired by his longing for the nature and light of his dear native country of Norway. Fjords, mountains, snow, frosty mornings and also from childhood memories of holidays spent in a wooden cabin deep in the mountains of Tuddal in Telemark.
The name Norwegian Summers hints at a hope for something rare and unpredictable, something that might leave you broken and disappointed, but that might also fill you with light, warmth and joy, like the Norwegian summer. 4 tunes from the album will be featured in the TV series "Svalbard minutt for minutt", airing on NRK in february 2020.
Musically Melantopia is inspired by Tycho, Diplo, Flume, Tove Lo, Røyksopp, Lindstrøm, Highasakite, Grieg, Norwegian national romantic composers, Brian Eno, Pink Floyd, Yes, the beauty of nature, deserts and mountains.
