New music in 2020, the new album "Dirty Devil River" will be out in April 2020, singles will be released from January 22nd, 2020. The "Dirty Devil River" music is inspired by the deserts and canyons surrounding the Dirty Devil River in Southern Utah.
An album named "Svalbard" will be released on February 7th, and will feature the 4 tunes from NRK´s new slow tv show "Svalbard minutt for minutt" that will be airing on NRK from January 31st and for 9 continuous days, making it the longest slow tv show in the world.
The album "Dark Canyon" was released on September 13th, 2019.
The "Dark Canyon" album is inspired by canyoneering and exploration of the remote canyons and deserts of Southern Utah. Melantopia has spent a considerable amount of time exploring Dark Canyon and surrounding areas over the last years, and has fallen deeply in love with the deep canyons and high plateaus. Hopefully the music from this album can help raise awareness of the need to protect and conserve the sacred lands in the vicinity of former Bears Ears National Monument, Grand Staircase Escalante National Monuments and the canyons, mesas and deserts of Southern Utah and Arizona.
Melantopia´s first album release, Norwegian Summers, was inspired by his longing for the nature and light of his dear native country of Norway. Fjords, mountains, snow, frosty mornings and also from childhood memories of holidays spent in a wooden cabin deep in the mountains of Tuddal in Telemark.
The name Norwegian Summers hints at a hope for something rare and unpredictable, something that might leave you broken and disappointed, but that might also fill you with light, warmth and joy, like the Norwegian summer. 4 tunes from the album will be featured in the TV series "Svalbard minutt for minutt", airing on NRK in february 2020.
